Blog #3:
One key takeaway from this chapter is that to truly harness the power of a virtual tool, it’s vital to conduct thorough research into its full capabilities. Through this chapter and the course as a whole, I've come to realize that there’s so much more to the virtual tools I use daily than I previously recognized, especially regarding their beneficial features. The chapter highlights that you don’t have to be an expert to effectively utilize web tools, which is empowering. I’ve discovered that YouTube serves as an incredible resource for learning about these tools—whatever tutorial I seek, there’s likely a video available.
The concept of tagging was completely new to me, but I can see its application in my role as a clinical mental health specialist and business owner. If I want to explore new counseling strategies, I could visit www.delicious.com and save valuable web pages that I find. The idea of organizing relevant websites for easy future access is appealing. I wish I had this knowledge sooner; it would have been tremendously helpful during my studies. As an entrepreneur, this practice will be equally beneficial. I am eager to start a Delicious account now and dive into comprehensive research on how to launch a successful business, which will help me avoid costly mistakes down the road.
I’m thrilled to have learned how to create a blog through this class. I never thought I would venture into blogging, but I now see its potential. RSS feeds are particularly intriguing; they offer a way for me to find and connect with the blogs I want to follow as a counselor. Learning from other successful counselors could significantly enhance my blogging journey. Additionally, an RSS reader will save me time by allowing me to absorb all the blogs I subscribe to in one sitting, rather than sifting through numerous sources. This will not only streamline my reading process but also make my engagement with blogs more sustainable.
